During questioning, they revealed that some of their friends and relatives traveled abroad for better livelihoods, inspiring them to do the same. They came into contact with an agent named Rohit Chaudhary through friends, who promised to arrange their journey to Russia, along with job opportunities, for Rs nine lakhs each.
Deputy commissioner of police (IGI) Usha Rangnani said the agent Rohit, along with his associate Dinesh, arranged tickets and work visas for Russia. On December 30, Dinesh met the group at IGI Airport, handing over tickets and fake travel NOC certificates. However, they were caught by immigration staff during document scrutiny.
The passengers admitted to paying the agents Rs 9 lakhs each in cash. During the investigation, Dinesh (44) was arrested. He worked as a ticketing agent for several years but was struggling to make ends meet.
